We have a saying in Sweden that goes: "Abroad is good, but home is best." Right now, I totally agree with this statement since it is great to be back home for a couple of days. I have been on the road six consecutive weeks and during these weeks I got to learn even more, and I increased my overall experience on and off the course as well. It is very special to get the opportunity to travel and play golf professionally as I get to do and I am very fortunate, so thank you everyone that makes it possible.
I am at home this week and I am really happy to get to catch up with everyone as well as prepping for Kazakhstan Open next week which I am looking forward to. I just simply know it is going to be a fun week.
It was the first time I was in Northern Ireland two weeks ago and I must say I really liked it because of its laid back lifestyle, the nice people, the cool cows and sheep around, and of course the golf courses. I got to play Royal Portrush in the north part, which is located right on the ocean and was established in 1888. This true links experience really opened my eyes and I fell in love with this classic way of playing links golf. This is the way that golf should be played I think since you get so many different lies which are unpredictable and you just need to be a magician out there and really use your mind right. By being optimistic I was really glad to play this course with some other Swedes, even though I wanted to play the weekend of the tournament but hey I got a lot out of the experience and the fun I had at Royal Portrush. Its important to treat life events the right way, whatever happens in life, remember that.
France was a really cool place as the golf course we played at was right by the sea in Pleneuf-val-Andre north of Rennes, France (by France's northwest coast). My friend Alexander and I stayed at a French family's house which felt just like home and we got homemade breakfast in the mornings so we were kind of spoiled. The french family was really polite and nice and we really enjoyed them. My game felt solid and I look forward to enhance a couple of things this week at home to be ready for Kazakhstan. Alexander and I went to Paris and got to be tourists for a day as we explored places like the Eiffeltower. Paris is a big city and its fast-pace lifestyle is charming.
Hope that everyone of you are doing great and I hope to in many aspects share a really interesting beginning of this fall with you, such as how my golf progresses and all the other things we got the opportunity to experience in life. Smile and be happy.
Best regards,
Oscar Stark
