I arrived to George, South Africa with pretty high expectations last weekend due to comments about Fancourt, but I must say that the overall experience from early mornings to evenings have been fantastic and all thanks to the Dimension Data and sponsors such as, BMW, Microsoft, Dell etc. The three different courses we have played before the cut was determined earlier today have been stunning in different ways. By far my favorite is the Links "the monster" which is a private club and very exclusive and difficult. It is about 7900 yards I think but we play it shorter since its too hard playing from the tips. I have played solid so far this week and I have shot 72 (E) at Outeniqua, 72 (-1) at the Links and 71 (-1) today at Montagu which is also long and very demanding. I could have felt a little better today due to stomachache but fought through and got it done. So tomorrow is the final round and I am excited to play well as well as fun playing along the last week's winner of Africa Open (European Tour event) Thomas Aiken.
This is one of the best events I have played ever in since Dimension Data has put together some great sponsors and evening events full of great entertainment. I also enjoyed to play with my pro-am playing partner in the tournament Mr. Joubert who is working at Rand Merchant Bank. We had a great time these three days, it was a lot of fun.
I must tell you guys another story: I met a young gentleman here the other day at the hotel I am staying at and he is one of the doormen. He said that his dream was to visit Oklahoma City and I thought to myself, "Wow, I have been able to get my degree and played college golf there for seven years." I told him that I went to school there and hope that he will somehow be able to go someday. He told me that I am, "a lucky man" and let me tell you what he is right. I am very fortunate for all the opportunities that I have been experiencing so far and that I will get to be a part of. I hope to be able to help people in the future to meet their dreams in life, like this guy whose dream is to go to Oklahoma in the US.
Take care!
